PHIL 216 Modern Philosophy
A critical survey of European philosophy from 1600 to 1800, a period during which enormously influential contributions were made to the philosophical study of knowledge, reality, and the nature and limits of philosophy itself. Philosophers to be studied include Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant.

PHIL 218 19th and 20th Century Philosophy
This course is intended to provide students a critical introduction to some of the core themes in Continental philosophy in the 19th and 20th centuries. Some of the canonical figures that we will discuss in this course include the Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Freud, Foucault. Upon completion of this course, students will have acquired a familiarity with a number of the core movements in the Western European philosophical traditions of the 19th and 20th centuries.
